The available V8 gasoline and V10 turbo-diesel engines are very strong. Handling is quite good, but steering is overboosted. The Touareg is better than expected off-road considering its unibody design.
Touaregs have a good driving position and well-fitting seats. The ride is more comfortable with the optional height-adjustable air suspension.
Cargo space is not the Touareg's forte. The controls are generally well thought out and the gauges are clear and complete. The off-road control knob is particularly nice.
The Volkswagen look translates well to SUV proportions. Assembly quality is appropriate for the price range, but no more.
