My wife really wants a new beetle conv. but after reviewing some of the problems mentioned here, I'm a little cautious. Most of the serious and common problems seem to be with the 2004's. Does anyone know if Volks has corrected any of the consistent engineering/mfg issues like the windows, etc. on the newer models (2007, 2008)??. Is there a blog or website that ... Read More...

My 15 year love affair with Volkswagen has officially come to an end. I would like to scream from the roof tops that this company doesn't back their product and does not care if they lose loyal customers. And I will never buy another car from them again. I was number 10 in this string of VW Beetle light issues back in April 2007. I have still not found out what the problem is and it is still ocurring. Recently I have had my red oil can light set off a loud siren which continues on a regular basis for hours - similar to the one that goes off briefly when you need gas only - louder and more obnoxious. I could really use some help. I was just at the dealer looking at the new beetle conv. to see the $219 lease special, which of course, no cars are left at that price. I would lease a 2007 conv. but the price the dealer is quoting me is $100 over what the man you replied to earlier is saying he would pay. I would buy the car after the lease ends. So my wife has come back from the dealerships with 3 cars she likes. Mini & VW lead, so, on the VW side we have, 2007 Beetle convert, triple White with everything. Cost $29,800 : 0 down = $405+tax 36 monthly payments. Dealer stated number could come down a bit once credit report is run. my family has been buying VWs for over 25 years now, and we've ever model basically except the new beetles-anywhere between 1998-2007- They are the worst cars VW makes. Beetles and the 2000-2004 jettas are crazy massed produce so alot of stuff just over looked. i would suggest the Passats or golfs. I drive a 01Cabrio and love it. but the dont make those anymore. ...
