Review
Well we just bought our Bug so we'll have to wait and see about the reliability. I bought this car for my wife. It's her dream car and she's always wanted it so I finally did it. I was initially embarrassed to even be in the thing because it seems like such a girl car, however, I am sold thus far. This car is extremely fun to drive and it truly looks cool, especially with the top down. I'm 6'4 and I fit wonderfully in either front seat with plenty of leg room. The back seats are tighter, that's for sure, but if you're buying the car for space in the back seat then you're looking at the wrong vehicle. I love this car!!
Favorite Features
Tiptronic transmission, very good sound system, convertible top is easy to raise and lower, steering is great.
Suggested Improvements
Move instrument panel or trim it to give my right knee a tad bit more room

I pulled my Salsa Red off the lot only 7 weeks ago. The darn thing is falling apart. I am completely frustrated as it has been in the shop twice now resulting in me being in a rental for a total of 6 of the 40 days I have owned it. The Air Bag light came on within the first week. Now my Audio Jack disappeared into the console when I tried to plug my MP3 player in with the cable I just bought. The trunk liner doesn't match up with the body of the car, and there is a knocking at the bottom when I make turns and they are saying it is my trunk contents. TRUNK IS EMPTY!! I haven't turned 1500 miles yet and completely regret my purchase. I think it was assembled by a 2 year old.
Favorite Features
It's a fun and comfortable ride.
Suggested Improvements
Quality assurance!!

Review
I'm a big guy, and here I am celebrating my 40th with a Silver and Black VW New Beetle Convertible. I'm still deeply in love with this car even five months after buying it. The semi-automatic roof is a must, but the sound system and XM radio sound great, even when the top is down. I bought this car knowing that the backseat would become my trunk, since both are so small, but since I don't have kids, it's not a problem. The 6-speed with sport mode is wonderful and allows me to surprise some sports car drivers with its passing power. I plan on keeping this baby for a long-long time, and will only replace her with another like her.
Favorite Features
The automatic top, great sound system, and good dash design. I love the no-frills aux hookup for my iPod. This car is surprisingly powerful with excellent handling. The flattened body design vs. prior years makes it a little more stylish, a little less cutesy.
Suggested Improvements
There isn't a lot of lockable storage space so I always have to put the top back up. The gas mileage is a bit low. While the 2006 center console and cup holder design is a lot better than the 2005 (I owned one for three days!), it could still be better.

I bought the New Beetle to get away from sedans for a while as I had a '01 Taurus (big mistake) and an '03 Camry previously. The Beetle was all a sedan wasn't (unfortunately that also included being practical, easy to drive, and roomy). I kept my Beetle for six months and have since seen the error of my ways and bought an '06 Passat (which I highly recommend).
Favorite Features
The styling is young, colors are great, the new red for '06 is the best red on the road...if it would just stay on the car!
Suggested Improvements
Some power steering where the "power" could be felt would be nice. Also, the paint is seriously flawed. It dings and chips with minimal effort. I even had the dealer emblem etched in the paint when I pulled off the sticker. They had to buff it out which swirled the fragile paint and made it worse.

My Beetle
Vehicle
2006 Volkswagen New Beetle TDI 2dr Hatchback (1.9L 4cyl Turbodiesel 5M)
Review
This is the third Beetle I have owned since 1998. The improvements are obvious from the styling to the dropped outside mirrors for better visibility. This car isn't for everyone. It's for fun loving people who like a car that looks like no other, handles great, and performs flawlessly. it fits me to a T and I wouldn't even consider another car on the road today. It is unique.
Favorite Features
Personally, I love the heated seats, the satellite radio, CD player, and the self dimming rear view mirror. Lets face it, I just love it.
Suggested Improvements
My biggest gripe about the Beetle was the side mirror position, but VW has improved it considerably.
Just love it.

I just bought my 2006 VW convertible and I absolutely love it. It's so comfortable, the leather seats are soft and feel great. The stereo sounds wonderful and I love all the new safety features in this little package. I have wanted this car for years but never sat in one. I drove a minivan for the past seven years and just love the hight of the seating so I was concerned that this would cramp me in. Being a very short woman this was the most perfect car for me. I LOVE IT, more then I thought I would. Even the back seats are comfy to ride in. I know, I checked it out myself. I love driving with the top down and I have no problems working it. Sure the trunk is small, but it's a small car.
Favorite Features
The leather seats that are soft and comfy. It has a nice smooth ride and great sound from the stereo. I love how I feel while driving it. I also love that the gas has no key and the other door and trunk also has no key entry.
Suggested Improvements
None right now, I've only had it about a week. I just love it and so do my 20 year old kids.

My Dream Car

I have wanted a Beetle for as long as I can remember. I have little die-cast Beetles all over my living room. I absolutely love my Beetle. It is very comfortable and good on gas.
Favorite Features
The style, comfort, reliability, and fuel economy. What's not to love.

Review
We enjoy the maneuverability of this car. Its spaciousness is surprising, as it will even accommodate two [7 and 11 y.o.] grandchildren in the back seat. It is a diesel and that gas is expensive and not always easily available. My husband insists it is VERY safe with the steel cage construction and side airbags. I still worry a bit and in bad weather [especially at night] and prefer to drive one of our more conventional, obviously heavier, autos.
Favorite Features
The maneuverability, ease of operation, spaciousness [yes - spaciousness], attractiveness, and style. This car offers great safety if the steel cage and side airbags make it so.
Suggested Improvements
Make the headlight switch more obvious and the remote entry easier to operate on first try. Put it on stilts - or maybe super size tires would do it! The exterior's sleek design leaves nowhere to place any object [i.e. briefcase] on it when needing two hands free. The key sometimes "locks" when in park.

Review
I just purchased my new Beetle in September and have not had a single complaint about this car since. Compared to my mustang especially, it has great handling on the highway and in the rain. The gas efficencey is wonderful and the pickup is surprisingly fast. The stereo sounds great and it is a very quiet convertible. The ac and heat work great and the heated seats are amazing. I was very weary of purchasing a convertible but I'm very happy I did and I have absolutley no regrets! I'm very happy I ended up with such a fun, amazing, reliable. and stylish (salsa red w/ black int and top) car!
Favorite Features
Everything! The lighted neon blue dash and stereo, satelite radio, CD magazine, heated seats, teperature gauge, MP3 input, and bright high beams...the list goes on and on...
Suggested Improvements
If I had yt piock one thing it would be the limited color availability. I'm happy with my salsa red but not having black or white to choose from in this year was kind of a bummer but no biggie. I'm glad I ended up with red and not a boring blah color.

Nothing Like It
Vehicle
2006 Volkswagen New Beetle 2.5 2dr Convertible (2.5L 5cyl 6A)
Review
This is one cute car. It doesn't feel too big or too small. It gets fairly good gas mileage compared to others. Do expect a blind spot, it is a convertible. The top sits on the back to give that nostalgic look and feel. They tried to keep the old look but offer modern features as well. The top is easy to put up or down. The stereo is as good as you can get in a car of that size. Once you have one it will be a must for your family.
Favorite Features
The cuteness and how easy it is to park. It's a Beetle, that says it all!
Suggested Improvements
Bring back white with the navy top and offer the hard top in in the Aqua color. Also a 4Motion Beetle would be the best. Perhape offer moon hubcaps/wheel covers and whitewalls.
