Low Sulphur Diesel vs. Ultra Low Sulphur Diesel fuel economy

Does anyone else who owns a pre-2007 VW diesel have any comparison regarding real world fuel economy using ULSD (15ppm)vs. "regular" low sulphur (500ppm) diesel? It may just be me but I seem to notice a definite drop in fuel economy when I use ULSD in my 2005 Jetta. At first I thought it was just the car, but then I happened to fill up on a tank of 500ppm at a local station ... Read More...

Re: 2007 vw wolfsburg jetta [jam2989]

It seems on all newer VWs the rears will wear much faster than the fronts will mainly because of how the braking power is distrubted. My solution is to either deal with it or stay away from the VWs. It's just how VW set up their brake system and it's not a defect the dealer will even take care of. I purchased the tool for the rear brakes for $25 so I'll just do it myself because ... 2007 vw wolfsburg jetta

hi everyone, its really funny because i just stumbled on this forum and found my exact problem that all of us have in common, i leased my 2007 vw wolfsburg edition jetta in may 2007 and i now have almost 22,000 miles on the car. my rear brakes started sounding like metal rubbing together and i realized that there was a problem. my step dad is a mechanic and he looked at ... Re: [malmouza]

Look man, if you are talking about fun, Honda is the place to go. You're not for real, are you? Honda may build some racing engines. The Accord is not hardly a racing platform to compare with the Jetta. The Jetta TDI has its own racing series. What has Honda got in racing here in the USA? I see several environmental groups praising the VW Jetta TDI racing series. It is ... Read More...

Re: [malmouza]

For Honda the problems are limited to rattling because of cheap plastic used to cut cost, noisy cabin at highway speed if the engine is an I4 with displacement bellow 2.0L, the brakes rotors have tendency to fade quickly, or create a vibration in steering wheel during braking. Quit it, I cannot stop laughing. You would drive a car that has rattles, noisy at speed ... Read More...

Re: Epic Fail [sebring95]

There is one thing you all should know; why the used Jetta diesel was selling at such a high price, some 2 years old jetta’s were selling above the MSRP price; because VW stopped selling them on 2007 and all the fan of diesel start panicking that they may not see the diesel ever. Now that everybody knows that the problem with the mission have been solved by all companies, ... Read More...

Re: 09 Jetta tdi test drive [malmouza]

I have a 2007 Sequoia V8 and it has to have the timing belt changed at 90k same as recommended on the VW TDI. My bet is the V8 belt change will be a lot more than the VW TDI. The oil change at 5000 miles on my Toyota Sequoia was $30 more than the VW Passat TDI with synthetic oil at 5000 miles. Toyota Service used cheapo 30 weight dyno oil. You must have had a very crooked dealer ... Read More...

Re: rear brake wear [homerkc]

Unfortunately the new Jetta's brakes are not any better than the old ones. Read my story below. I am going through this situation right now and glad I came across this forum. The dealership said nothing about defective calibers, but basically told me not to use the emergency brake and to pay for the repair. I have a 2008 Jetta that I purchased in September of 2007. ...
