Re: GLI Lease & Insurace rate? [bvdj84]
Hi bvdj84. I am not personally all that familiar with what insurance rates are like on the Jetta, but you may be able to get an idea from other community members who own this car by visiting the "Volkswagen Jetta 2006+" discussion. Car_man Host Prices Paid Forum Read More...

Re: 2000 Jetta 2.0L Timing belt [ruking1]
I agree with ruking.... VW changed the design and extended the timing-belt replace interval between 1999 and 2006. Early engines had 60K mile change while some after 2003 recommend 100K change. There were some with 80K mile change too. (Inspections are ALWAYS recommended.) Some folks that like to dig into the details have found that the partnumbers for the ... Read More...
Re: 2000 Jetta 2.0L Timing belt [jodar96]
The answer is (depends) a bit sequential. I glanced at the current Bentley's for your 2000 Jetta and model (AEG). It indicates 40k and 80 k for CHECKING. Further for your year and model it does NOT specify a mileage certain for timing belt change (as for the ALH diesel engine @ 100k) but it does say: ..."Volkswagen > A4 Platform > 1999 - 2006 01 - Description of work ... Re: Timing Belt Replacement [sebring95]
sebring95 The dealer uses the Castrol 505.01 spec oil for my 2006 Jetta TDI. So to me it should be good for 1 year. I am not sure if that is a synthetic oil? All I know is that the spec MUST be met for the pump deuse engine or things get ugly fast. Why would your service interval be 16,000km between oil changes etc. when my book says 5,000miles! That is 3x's the difference? ... Read More...

I am in the process of purchasing a 2006.5 diesel edition jetta from Langhorne Volkswagen in PA for 100.00 over invoice at 25365.00. I think MSRP was like 26700, something like that. Check out the tdiclub.com website for more information. Plenty of diesel jetta's on the east coast. Read More...

Re: Has anyone heard of a clutch disintegrating on a Manual VW Jetta TDI 20
HI, unfortuanetly I share your pain. I have had the entire clutch replaced on my 2006 jetta 2.5, TWICE. First at 8000 and then 10000 miles. I am seeking an attorney and hopefully can get rid of this thing via the lemon law. I've been driving a manual transmission for 20 years, so although they tried to tell me this could be my fault, it clearly is not. It's a shame as I ... Read More...

VW Jetta Burnin the oil?
Hello, A little while ago I posted on here regarding oil not being in my car. No leaks, no engine light; car was running just the same. As an update, I took it back to the dealership and the guy stated that when I had my car fixed, they must have emptied my oil. He said he checked everything no leaks and he wanted me to come back in a week to see what happens. I took it back and ... Read More...

Re: V-Dub for college. [viberantmind]
Hey Viberantmind. Shoot for a selling price that is close to dealer invoice as possible on the Jetta that you are interested in and then have the dealer that you are working with subtract the $750 cash incentive that is available on leases of it through VW Credit from that putting the actual capitalized cost for your lease at a couple hundred dollars below invoice. ... Re: Is VW offering any deals on new 2006 TDI's? [rtw67]
There are no 06 Jetta's left in Houston. Been gone for a while. The emmissions is the reason, when the 08 comes out expect a $2,500 bump. They will hide it in minor redesign but the reality is the re-engineering to hit the sulpher levels. The 06 TDI is a very high demand vehicle. I have an 06 and I wouldn't trade it for anything on the market. Diesel is 20 cents cheaper ... Read More...

V-Dub for college.
Hey there Car_man, and hello to everyone else: I must say that I am glad I stopped by because there was a gracious amount of serious information I lacked on leasing. Here is my situation. I am a 20 year old college student and I desperately need a car for transport to work + school. While I can treat myself to something a little nicer than average, I'm in no situation ... Read More...
