I know. I went to a dealership that had 7 MKiV available! Some 99s had it, The 2000 GLX had it, but his 1999 GLS VR6 did not. The 2001 GLS 2.0 I was very interested in did not, but the 2002 Wolfsburg did... DOES ANYBODY KNOW IF THIS WILL WORK???????????????????????? I am not a VW mechanic so this is just a hunch and if it is in a garage, they have the capability to do the job, if they choose. It is my understanding that the ECU locks out the fuel pump if the correct key is not used. It won't start or run because it gets no fuel. Thieves cannot take the time to locate, disconnect ... im in a small country in the caribbean called grenada... there is a VW dealership here and they claim they are an authorized VW dealership but they are lying. VW has no record of them. They told me to cut a copy of the key would cost $1000 US if not more... but in the end they are incompetent bums... idk my car has been there for a month... there MUST be a way around the computer ... That's a lot of money for that repair. My books list the pump at $1120 and labor at 3.5 hours, so even at $125/hour and including 8% sales tax I get a total of around $1700. You might want to sit down with the service department and ask for a complete review of the bill and all charges. By asking careful questions you might knock this bill down. My 2002 Jetta TDI quit running. This car has only 40k miles. I am told by VW that my warrenty was 5 years or 50k miles. They had to replace the Injection pump for a cost of $2,800. I love the car but not the company. Has anyone had any dealings with VW on an issue like this. Is there anyone I might be able to contact for some help in retreiving some of my capital back ? Polo is a hatchback smaller than Golf, so you must mean Bora (if not current model, Jetta name wasn't used until recently outside of US). While I do not have firsthand experience with VW, if it is the same key types German makers use, then you will have to contact a dealer or VW representative. how do u hook it. i have a VW polo. i lost the keys to the car. it is at a shop right now but they say they need a special machine to program a key to the car. The key is a laser cut key with a chip inside. Do you know if you could bypass that system and start the car without programming the computer? If there is a way PLEASE let me know. If i cant find a way, the car will have to be scrapped. ... Read More...
