Toyota Highlander Prices Paid and Buying Experience
Will there be a better deal soon?
I'm about to purchase my first new vehicle, and I'm really excited! Currently I'm comparing the Toyota Highlander to the Honda Pilot and Buick Rendezvous. I'd love to get the Highlander, but it's $100+ more per month compared to the Buick Rendezvous because there is no deal on the HL currently. Question: I was wondering if anyone can tell me whether Toyota will ... Read More...
Toyota Highlander HIGH oil consumption
I have a 2001 Highlander 3.0 litre V6 4WD. This car has been great except for one problem that I am about to go to the dealer with for the second time. At highway speeds, (above 2700 RPM on the tach) it uses oil like I owned an oil well. Back in Sept 2004, after a year of "monitoring" the situation, the dealer replaced the piston rings and valve seals on the engine. They ... Read More...

Re: RX 400 2005 v. Highlander hybrid 2005 [ultra64]
I have owned 3 RX's but wanted a hybrid. I test drove the Lexus 400h and a non-hybrid Highlander. The hype with the Lexus was overwhelming. I chose the Highlander for several reasons. I got fed up with Lexus loading up the RX's with many luxury features that I consider only cute. Mechanically they are the same. The Toyota will be cheaper to maintain simply due to hourly ... Re: 2004 Highlander trailer tow package [apop]
I am having a problem finding the right hitch wires for the 2004 Highlander . I have tried Toyota # 08942-48870-BB. plugs on both ends are good but the mounting clips no place to hook them and wire could be longer. Could you post the harness part number you used. Local dealers no help. Thanks Read More...
Re: Hitch for 2004 Highlander [fred82]
I ended up at a Cleveland Toyota dealer and found both wiring kits to complete the job. My small town dealer was lost and not really into the search. The converter (08921-48860) - $54- alone would have permitted me to cut off the smaller four pin plug and splice my own wires out to the 7 pin round connection that I need for my pop up. But rather than mess with potential ... Read More...

Re: Hitch for 2004 Highlander [shawn]
Where was you able to find the # 08942-48870-BB wire harness I have been unable to find on to look at. Dealers say it is not in the parts list only in their computer so have no information. I need harness with white,4 pin male plug about 7/16 inch square on one end. The Toyota hitch and wire comes as a kit and the refused to give me information on just the wire Harness. Read More...
Re: Re: Hitch for 2004 Highlander [apop]
My 2005 Highlander has the tow package. I am interested in experiences with the different aftermarket class III hitches (maximize road clearance, minimize visibility). Also, posts on this system indicate that to complete the tow package pre-wire one must buy directly from Toyota (it includes a converter). To avoid the Toyota rip-off can one purchase a kit ... New 2005 Highlander
I have been an "observer" and sometimes poster on Edmunds for several years, but not in the Highlander section. Within the past month I bought a 2005 Highlander AWD V6 with the "B" Package (which in Canada is similar to the US leather package I think). The B Pkg. includes leather seats and door side panels, 16" alloy wheels (5), wheel locks, leather wrapped steering ... Read More...

Cracked foglight lenses
The guy where I park my 2004 Highlander Limited pointed out to me the other day that BOTH of my foglight lenses are cracked. They are fully intact, no pitting, and no discernable damage around them but just all split up and cracked. This seems really odd to me, both at the same time. I stopped by a Toyota dealer and the manager sort of made it seem that he would replace ... Read More...
