04 Murano Loaded - SL
Vehicle
2004 Nissan Murano SL Fwd 4dr SUV (3.5L 6cyl CVT)
Review
Love the vehicle, flashy, quiet, rides great. Nice features, good layout. Overall, the best car I have owned. Road noise is almost non existent, stereo is awesome (Bose), back lighting in the dash is JUST OK. Really handy is the automatic control setups for two drivers, press 1 and it's the wife's configuration, and 2 for mine. All sets automatically, excluding steering wheel. Love that feature. Seperate air controls for both drivers, very nice! Added 3rd party device to get MP3 player to work with stereo, but it's great to press Sat and use whatever I want to plug in to it (includes XM radio) without using FM. Very happy with vehicle. Gas mileage and having to use SUPER unleaded stinks.
Favorite Features
Interior roominess, view out front of car, the overall look, interior setup and functionality.
Suggested Improvements
Do not require super unleaded gas. Backlit LEDs for dash and console - cheap and weak. Indiglo would have been very cool.

Not your mother's Nissan...
Vehicle
2004 Nissan Murano SL Fwd 4dr SUV (3.5L 6cyl CVT)
Review
I say this because my own mother has a 1994 Maxima which hasn't had near the amount of problems that my 2004 Murano has had. Power seat died once, visor stopped staying up, and I have been to the dealer 3 times to fix a rattle in the door, an issue which has a service bulletin out for it. And yet, they have been unable to fix it. Loved the vehicle when I first bought it, but have started to hate it!
Favorite Features
Great handling and performance. Comfortable seats. Looks nice.
Suggested Improvements
Cabin very noisy even at lower speeds. Build quality needs to seriously improve.

Great non-minivan, non-truck family car
Vehicle
2004 Nissan Murano SE AWD 4dr SUV (3.5L 6cyl CVT)
Review
I bought this car because I needed something that was roomy enough for a family of 4 but powerful enough to handle my mountain+freeway commute. I love it! Much sportier drive than an SUV or minivan. I like the CVT - very smooth. I get about 18-19 mpg on 87 octane gas and I'm a somewhat aggressive driver. I'm baffled by people who claim to own the vehicle but complain about the looks of it... so why did you buy it? Personally, I love the looks of it. I also like the fact that Nissan didn't try to cram in a 3rd row. The whole vehicle is much roomier as a result. Mine's fully loaded and even then, much less expensive than comparable Lexus, BMW, Volvo, or even VW.
Favorite Features
Big gas tank. Bose system sounds great. Plenty of acceleration. Nav system is a life saver. 60/40 folding rear seats are useful. Heated seats are nice (even in CA). Huge back seat has tons of legroom. Memory seats are so useful - I'm 5'4", husband is 6'1". Nice sunroof controls.
Suggested Improvements
Some annoying rattles inside. Hate the joystick design on the navigation system! Radio reception worse than average. Air vent brings in warm air due to poor location of the intake.

Vehicle
2004 Nissan Murano SL AWD 4dr SUV (3.5L 6cyl CVT)

32K miles without a single problem. Very comfortable for front and back seat passengers, sure-footed and fun to drive. Well-built (no squeaks or rattles), quality fit and finish.
Favorite Features
Driver and passenger comfort. Great styling. Navigation system and sound system. All-wheel drive.
Suggested Improvements
Better manual control of all-wheel drive at highway speeds. All-wheel drive lock reverts to vehicle controlled system above 19 mph.

Have driven this murano 102,000 miles, with (o) problems. Will be three years old in March. Changed oil and filter at 5000 miles, rotated tires every 10,000 miles plus visual checks such as cabin filters etc. Looking forward to a another 100,000 miles of care free ride. Suggestion: New Murano, smoother & quiter ride.
Favorite Features
Love the room in the Murano an cvt transmission. Handles really well easy to drive and not tiring.
Suggested Improvements
Ride just a little stiff, Road noise level could stand a little work.

Safety issues with this car. Towed twice for different problems. The transmission had to be replaced. Had to replace front wheel bearings. The alternator bracket broke and split the alternator cable (this one year after an alternator recall).
Favorite Features
Body style.
Suggested Improvements
Ability to lock the car at the tailgate. Tie-type pull down on rear door.

Nissan's safety standards saved lives.

2004 Nissan Murano SL Fwd 4dr SUV (3.5L 6cyl CVT)
Review
My wife and I found out that she was pregnant, we were thrilled. The Murano surpassed all of our expectations, and Douglas Nissan of Henderson, NV gave us a great deal on a well kept 2004. we never had a problem and it felt and drove like a high end sports car. I loved the SUV, on December 5th, 2006 my mother and 8 month old daughter were hit by a lincoln doing 90+ mph, the thing is not only were the lives of two of the three most important women in my life saved, they were left nearly unscathed. My girl had a little glass in her car seat thanks to the rear passenger air curtains. My mother and daughter were taken to the hospital and discharged a few hours later. Best buy for their lives!!
Favorite Features
CVT. will virtually stop your car from rolling in an accident. the safety standards are exquisite. and it is the most comfortable front and back seat for every passenger.
Suggested Improvements
none.

Could have been great
Vehicle
2004 Nissan Murano SL Fwd 4dr SUV (3.5L 6cyl CVT)
Review
The Murano is a very good vehicle, unfortunately it could have been a great vehicle. Very poor interior design, the dash instrumentation is some kind of cream, off yellow color. It should have been a brilliant white. The Bose stereo is very hard to use, too many button to look at while driving, very confusing and not all that great of sound quality. Performance is outstanding, fuel mileage is acceptable. The roof rack is a joke, no cross bars came with the vehicle, Nissan wants to sell them to you separately!! Very cheap of them I think!
Favorite Features
Engine performance is outstanding, ride is exceptional.
Suggested Improvements
A decent roof rack! Clean up the dash board, too much clutter!

I have this car for almost 3 years yet it still takes my breath away. Surefooted in slippery snow, at sharp corners or blasting through a hazard situation - in luxurious comfort. It's like commanding a magical creature morphed and have the agility of a unicorn, the elegance of a swan and the stability of a bullfrog.
Favorite Features
CVT, VHD, adjustable pedals, engine performance, leather seat color, height
