Re: To buy or not to buy --2006 ML 500 [dimitriosz]

I have a new 2006 ML 500. I ordered it in April of this year and got it on 8/13/05 (had to wait for alpine rain). My car has the jerkiness when you slow down, don't come to a complete stop and then accelerate again. I mentioned it to the dealer when I brought it in for the first visit @ 1900 miles. They called me later that day and told me that the transmission has to be replaced ... Read More...

Reconsidering

After I sold my 1999 ML320, I wasnt really going to get another M-Class. The new diesel option is making me think about it. I lived in Europe for a while and I can really appreciate the Torque and milage of diesels. I'll probably wait for the longer wheelbase 3 seater version. One thing is certain, I will definitely pay the extra for the extended warranty from mercedes. ... Read More...

Sludge in your 2000 ML320

>> I found a wonderful private Mercedes repair shop... they discovered signs of sludge.<< Looks like you have signs of the engine damage due to the fact that you used regular oil and followed recommended by MB 10K-12K intervals. There were at least a few engine failures, including my 1999 ML320, because of this problem. Also note that since you are ... Read More...

Re: 1999 ML 430 - Anyone? [lovey]

Lovey, You can find repair history knowing the VIN number (use services like carfax.com). There were a few recalls on 1999 ML320, but they should be fixed by the owner. Re your 10y/150K miles warranty: My 1999 ML320 just failed so I know the details on this. The warranty applies to the original owner of your ML320 only, and only if the engine fails due to the oil consumption/sludge ... Read More...

1999 ML320 Engine Failure

I just had a ML320 engine failure at 77,000 miles. The engine has died on the road without any warnings and now has to be replaced. I found a references on this thread that it was a class action law suit in 2002 that effects owners of all 1999, 200 and 2001 MBZ vehicles (see post 32 in this thread), in which Mercedes-Benz agreed to extende the warranty on all 1999-2001 ... questions about 2001 TK ML320...

thinking about purchasing a used TK ML320... does anyone know that the TK means? are ALL the M-class mercedes made in Alabama? were any manufactured in Germany? gas mileage? 2001 better experience than the 1999 & 2000? by reading these post i am thinking "don't do it", but of course would people who were happy with their experience write in message boards ... Picked up the car tonight

I asked to see the catalytic converters. They are a two piece can where the upper side overlaps the the lower side. One had totally pulled apart and the other was starting to do the same thing. It seems to me that if were properly welded to begin with it couldn't come apart at all. I asked the mechanic if this was a common problems. He replied "Not very common, but we were ... Read More...

ML's

Djdj, I certainly understand your frustration because I would feel the same way if mine was giving me trouble. The last two times I had the ML in the shop was just for scheduled maintenance with no other adjustments. I think it is well known that the '98 and '99 ML's had problems and I feel Mercedes made a very big mistake letting those out with continued known problems. ... Read More...

mark 156

Originally I felt the same way you did. The ML drove great and had fantastic seats. I wanted to love this car and keep for the 250,000km badge. The first bad experience occurred the third(!) day I had the Starmark'd car when the g-sensor went. Actually it had gone already but the dealer's mechanic didn't follow procedures and ignored the warning sign when they certified ... Read More...
