EDITORS' RATINGS OVERALL SCORE:

Overall

RATING

Wide variety of engine options combined with both coupe and convertible variants means the CLK platform is as diverse as any model available. Overall, this is a unique machine which offers both sport and luxury.

DETAILED EDITORS' RATINGS

Dynamics

RATING

Large variety of engines as well as coupe and convertible variants offer widely varied dynamic experiences. Overall, the CLK demonstrates sporting dynamics across the range.

Comfort

RATING

Widely varying the engine options produces very different suspension tuning across the range. Still, Mercedes produces impressive comfort despite the changes.

Function

RATING

All CLKs suffer from the same audio and climate comprexities as other M-B products. Both are overly complex. Convertible variants compromise trunk space. Still, the CLK offers about average functionality for the class.

Design/Build Quality

RATING

Overall, the CLK's above average in design and build quality. Like most M-B products, it offers a quality look and feel about its interior and exterior. We've yet to experience any squeaks or rattles and body panel fitment always seem perfect.

DETAILED PROFILE:

Image Enhancer Few buyers will look to the CLK as either a performance or luxury car as much as they will see it as a status symbol.

Luxurious Although some CLK styles (CLK63 and CLK63 AMG Black Series) offer awesome performance, the CLK line for the most part is a semi-sporty luxury car.
