2005 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class CLK320 2dr Cabriolet (3.2L 6cyl 5A)

Review

We searched forever for the perfect family convertible and wanted the class that Mercedes could offer. This was my first Mercedes purchase. This car is only driven on the weekends and only has about 1500 miles since purchase four months ago. Within 500 miles we developed a huge rattle under the car. Took it in and it was fixed right away. A bolt was missing from the exhaust system (never installed according to the dealer). Now at 1500 miles we have to have something in the front steering replaced because it has a leak. The part is 4-5 weeks out and we have to bring the car back in again. As far as driving it; I love it. It is a beautiful car and drives nice (when its not in the shop).

Favorite Features

I love the ease of the convertible and room that the rear seat and trunk offer. I have two kids and both are in car seats. We all fit fine.

Suggested Improvements

To jump on the bandwagon; the cup holder stinks.

2005 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class CLK320 2dr Coupe (3.2L 6cyl 5A)

Review

This car is probably one of the best looking cars on the road. It is a perfect blend of luxury and sportiness. It drives effortlessly, though maintains solid grip of the road. I had the previous generation model before, and the current model has a much stiffer suspension and tighter handling. The car's beauty makes a strong statement of style and is in a class of its own.

Favorite Features

Looks and ride/drive quality.

Suggested Improvements

Needs another cupholder. Rear seat entry is awkward with the front seats only fully upliftable when they are in the back half of the range - they should be automatically forward moving like the previous model.

Review

Great riding and driving car. After almost 10k miles 0 defects! Does not appear to enjoy the resale value of my 2000! However I feel the car is far superior to my previous CLK430!

Favorite Features

I enjoy the navigation system and steering wheel controls! Sport shifter is fun!!!

Suggested Improvements

Shoulder belts vibrate from wind flow with the front and rear side windows in fully opened position vibration eliminated when rear window is up! Occassionally when cruising my knee can touch the power seat controls should be in a different position. Could use 2 cup holders

Excellent all around vehicle. Some obvious features missing that is found in lesser priced vehicles. eg compass, easily accessable change holder (lifting up armrest is cumbersome), poorly located cup holder without provision for passenger

This Benz is beautiful with the practicality of four seats. Sensual with or without the top. Smooth delivery of power thru 7 sp tranny. Had problems with the keyless go which required a few trips to the dealership. Finally, they replaced a key component. The stereo started to blast (mostly static) by itself, as if it was possessed. It would only happen sporadically. This problem was linked to the keyless go and was repaired. That was about a year ago. Since then, so far so good. It sure does get alot of looks.

Favorite Features

Going topless, v8 and 7-sp , exterior desigh, minimal depreciation

Suggested Improvements

Come on offer a 6-sp manual like BMWs, at least in an AMG version.

This is my 4th CLK. Loved them all. Holds the road great. The new cupholder I prefer, however, I do hear complaints that there is a need for two. A tire inflation monitor would be helpful. So as you can see, don't have any complaints.

The cup holder still a joke and it could use more power, but other than that, a thrill to drive. Great handling, styling and reliability

Favorite Features

Seat belt is extended to driver, and seat, wheel and mirror settings automatically reset, offering ease of entry and exit

Suggested Improvements

Better, and more than one, cup holder, Nav. system that is more operator friendly

Review

My CLK 320 is a sweet ride. The convertible is a must and makes me cheer out loud while driving. It handles beautifully and is tops in luxury. The only problem I've had is a fuse to my speakers that keeps popping. I take it out and it resets, but I'll be worried if it keeps happening. The car looks great, is big enough for four (if the back two are short) and so far, the mileage is OK. About 20 mpg. Everything is automated, the sound system sounds superb, it handles well and it just makes you feel like a million. Since I'm a new owner, I can't say how the service is but it had better be great or I'll change this review. Overall, I love this car.

Favorite Features

Of course the number one feature is the convertible. It is automatic and takes only twenty-some seconds. It has a glass rear window and no leaks or noise. The styling is low to the ground and much sexier than past CLK models. The ride is smooth and sporty, but it has room for kids and groceries.

Suggested Improvements

Make the smart key easier to read. Symbols are black on black but white on black would help. Only one cup holder. Need another for front passenger.

2005 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class CLK320 2dr Coupe (3.2L 6cyl 5A)

Review

I have had my CLK320 coupe for 2 months, replacing a BMW330i. I was hesitant to make the change, but I'm glad I did. The 320 is much better looking, both inside and out, and the navigation system is a bonus. It is fun, easy to use, and frightening in its accuracy. Acceleration seems not up to the BMW, but is more than adequate for my needs.

Favorite Features

Looks, comfort, navigation

Suggested Improvements

The climate control is not intuitive, and controls are cheap plastic. Cup holder is too far from driver. Tip-tronic transmission (manual option) is gimmicky and not really useful.

Review

The car looks and runs great. It is a pleasure to drive. This is my 16th Benz, and they are still great. I also have a BMW 745IL, but enjoy the Benz much more.

Favorite Features

Just as in real estate, the measure is location, location, location. In this case the measure is Benz convertible, Benz converible, Benz convertible

Suggested Improvements

Get rid of the dopey seat belt extender and add automatic side view mirror retactors. Add about a foot in length so that you can actually carry rear seat adult passengers.
