On my 2005 ES330, the hesitation happens sometimes if I accelerate slowly. If I need to merge onto the freeway or otherwise accelerate for sure, I stab the pedal and it takes off just fine. I previously had a 2000 RX300, and started noticing that issue after a time myself (and the awful hesitation problem) --- honestly, I had 2 transmission failures in the RX, thankfully fixed under warranty, and eventually got them to buy me out of that car, and after my complaining (or shouting at the dealership manager! lol) they gave me a great deal on a 2005 ES330. ... I read these boards with interest some while back. At that time I had a 2000 RX300 that had the same 'hesitation' issue, and well, at about 70,000 miles, the transmission started making these awful 'whining' noises, like it was slipping, and after a while the engine light came on too, so I took it to the dealership.
