Fine SUV for the money, good content

Review

Came down to between this and a Highlander. We didn't go with that due to a more cramped interior with much less interior storage space vs. the Pilot. Car is well executed inside and out. Driving experience is consistent with expectations. Smooth drive train, pleasant ride. Reliability has been good to date. Mileage is a bit disappointing, but about what I expected. Averaging 18-20 mpg in mixed driving in first 7K miles, which isn't too bad considering power and weight of car.

Favorite Features

Fold flat third row, roomy interior for 8, with cubbies for storage, XM radio, heated seats. Honda fit and finish and reliability

Suggested Improvements

The optional iPOD integration system leaves a lot of room for improvment. DRLs and auto lights should be a std feature in a car this price. Auto locks would be nice.

Review

Good so far, gas mileage is a little better than expected. Even in city driving. Maybe the cylinder management helps?

Favorite Features

Great seats. Good looks. Comfortable. Saddle interior color is great. Nice exhaust sound. Honda should make the tan interior color available on more exterior colors.

Suggested Improvements

Power retractable mirrors. This thing is wide. A touch more second and third row leg room. Stereo sound could be improved. All Hondas should include standard iPod link.

Review

We are Honda family and the Pilot is my 4th. I purchased it for towing my 3500 lbs boat and it does a great job. The height and width of the vehicle is great larger than I expected. If I can keep it on "ECO" it will do fine.

Favorite Features

Favorite feature is the auto air, set it and forget it.

Suggested Improvements

Suggested improvement is with the location of the wiper controls. On many occasisons I find my self pulling the wiper controls before getting the shifter

Traded my Hybrid Civic

Review

I loved the mileage on my hybrid but I was having a hard time getting in and out and we travel alot now and needed more room. Only 2 tanks of gas through it so far, first tank combined was 20 mpg. The 2nd tank was all city and was a little over 15 mpg. I averaged over 40 with my hybrid. I love the room and the ride. Mileage is much better then the 2002 Dodge Ram 4 door pickup (6/14) I traded for the hybrid. It is quiter than the Civic and much easier to get in and out of. I feel safer driving it. I did not want 4 WD and the VCM helps with the milage. I have owned a lot of vehicals in my 60 plus years and this one is right up there with the best I have owned. Thank you Honda.

Favorite Features

Size, ride, interior room, looks and feel. Lots of storage in the front seat area.

Suggested Improvements

Please Honda fix the gear shift. When you pull it out of park or reverse it goes through D into D3. My Civic did the same thing so I made a block for it to stop the gear shift at D. I can't do that with a column shift.

Our first Honda

Review

This is our first Honda. The drive is quiet and smooth, fuel economy is decent, and the A/C chills quickly. All in all we are pleased with our latest purchase.

Favorite Features

We really like our XM/stereo system. We could even enjoy the sound system from the 3rd row of seats as well as have the A/C cooling us quite well. Nice quiet ride and the leather seats are comfortable. Of course we love the safety features and the exterior styling has a nice fluid line to it.

Suggested Improvements

Driver's seat could have a bit more adjustable lumbar support. Illuminate the steering wheel and place the gear shift on the floor. FYI, it is hard to see what gear you are shifting into the way it reads now.

Great Family Car!

I have had my Pilot for 6 months now and absolutly love it! I have had all the others and this Pilot easily is the best ever! And I almost bought the 4runner since I think the Pilot is funny looking! With just over 6000 miles I am just now averaging the 17mpg which they advertised. 20 mpg has been my best on all highway driving. Drive quality is fantastic and I am so glad that I got a car with third row seating so I can seperate my young boys. Car has tons of space for storage between seats and also in the back. Easily holds 4 guys and all the golf gear! Makes a great family car. Tons of space and small kids fit well in third row

Favorite Features

Ride quality, steering wheel controls, storage, interior room, headlights are great

Suggested Improvements

Mileage, road noise, tiny tires, cruise control button in poor location

A fun car to drive. Mileage is a major issue for someone that has to drive this car on a daily basis. I purchased this vehicle to use for vacation trips, I plan on only using about 6000/year. If I had to use it to commute to work, I probably end up in the poor house

Great SUV for the money

Review

I am a big Honda fan and biased for Honda over any other car company. This is our second Honda and I love it. The engine is silky smooth and near silent. The ride is nice and quiet. The SUV is great for the family with eight passenger seating and room for everyone. I test drove new GMC Acadia, Saturn Outlook, Mazda CX-9 and even new Acura MDX. But Pilot has everything these other SUVs have plus the great price. Great SUV for the price. Buy and treat yourself!!

Favorite Features

Flat folding 2nd and 3rd row seats In-dash 6 cd changer. Comfortable driver and passenger seats. Smooth, quiet and comfortable ride. Honda quality and reliability

Suggested Improvements

Fuel economy is 15 mpg not 17. Larger wheels/tires maybe 18". Automatic door locking feature. Lighted steering controls for night time driving. Floor shifter instead of steering.

If you're scared of a minivan, get this

Review

I'm mad at myself that we didn't get this car sooner. It's got loads of space, performs well in snow, and is very comfortable for all passengers on trips, both long and short. If you've got kids, need more space, and don't want to be seen in a minivan, this car is worthy of your consideration.

Favorite Features

Rear entertainment system, climate control, heated seats, comfy ride, third row seating that fits adults.

Suggested Improvements

Make rear entertainment system and navigation available on same platform, illuminate steering wheel buttons, move sunroof button near the sunroof and make it one touch open/close.

I love my Honda Pilot

Review

I was driving a Volvo X-country that I loved and vowed not to go any bigger. (I am not a minivan person). However, 2 children and friends later, we were looking. This Pilot drives like a dream, is easy to park and does not feel big to drive, but is very spacious inside. I love all the compartments and I love the safety ratings and rear airbags. In my younger day I had a Mustang and I have to tell you that I find this Pilot AS FUN to drive! I find the pick-up very good and find myself looking down and saying "oops! driving too fast"- very smooth ride. My kids love it too. It is an SUV, so I am not fazed by the gas mileage but I find it the same as ads. We did test others but Pilot is the best.

Favorite Features

Stereo is very nice. Compartments! I don't have a messy car anymore! 3rd seat really does seat adults. Rear cup holders. DVD is fun for those long trips - comes w/wireless headphones so you can listen to radio while rear passengers listen to a movie!

Suggested Improvements

Standard rear mud guards (front are included) and rails for rack (rack inlcuded) would be nice. The middle row doesn't adjust back and forth, just forward to seat people in last row - a bit more knee room for last row would be a little nicer.
