Summary
What Edmunds.com says
Pleasant to drive and ride in but lacks a few key features and the rock-solid reliability record of top-rated rivals.
Pros
Excellent ride and handling characteristics, good low-end pull from 3.8-liter V6, roomy cabin, comfortable seats.
Cons
No fold-flat third-row seat, unimpressive reliability history, subpar frontal offset crash test score, low resale value.
What's New for 2004
To celebrate 20 years of building minivans, Dodge will offer an Anniversary Edition package for the Grand Caravan with such features as chrome wheels, two-tone leather upholstery, embroidered floor mats and an in-dash CD/DVD changer paired with a rear entertainment system. Additionally, the company has simplified the trim level structure this year, so that buyers need only choose a base SE, a midlevel EX or a top-of-the-line SXT. The Grand Caravan also gets a tire-pressure monitor, upgraded audio systems and a new integrated key/remote.
Consumer Ratings & Reviews
Great Buy, Excellent Features.

Review
Great van. I extended the warranty on my van when we brought it because it was used and had 5,000 miles on it. I have brought it in for some engine and transmission issues but thank goodness it was under warranty still a little concerning for a relatively new car. My advice if you intend to keep any vehicle past 3 years get the extended warranty. At least it is a good resale feature.
Favorite Features
DVD, leather seats, 6 disc CD changer, the moveable console, the passenger doors (keyless entry)
Suggested Improvements
Have the windows open on the sliding doors to allow more fresh air into the vehilce. some mini vans already have that feature (Toyota Sienna).

Do not buy Caravan!

Review
Where do I begin? My engine went out at 52,000, the side electric doors operate sporadically, the suspension rattles, the brakes go out very fast, the tranny shifts rough. Do not buy a Caravan!
Favorite Features
A lot of storage/space
Suggested Improvements
Make the doors reliable. Make the engine reliable. Make the brakes last. Make the suspension last

Great Van

Review
I am driving les as I have gotten older, however the comfort of this van is just great. I have had no problems, and the mileage is superior. When I first get in the van I know I am not going to have any operating problems. And I can't wait to start the engine and take off to do errands or visit friends. This my second new van and Chrysler has a winner. In the summer, plenty of air conditioning and lots of heat in the winter. The nice thing is, passengers can enjoy these features when they are in the back seat.
Favorite Features
Ease of operating.

2004 GrandCaravan A Winner

Review
My 2004 SXT Dodge GrandCaravan is my first van and it really did exceed my expectations for comfort, convience and reliability. I will buy another Dodge GrandCaravan SXT for my next vehicle purchase
Favorite Features
My seats in front and back are very comfortable, I hope the small Stow-A- Way seat design in the newer vans did not forfiet comfort for convenience.
Suggested Improvements
I have heard the tranny problems are a thing of the past, however I hesitate trading my 2004 w/ 7 year 100,000 powertrain coverage in for a new 2006 that only has 3 yr 36,000 warranty.
Not a very good vehicle

I've not had good luck with this vehicle at all. It's been in for various repairs 5 times now. Electrical problems, fuel system problems and mechanical problems. Bushings in the front sway bar went bad at 24000 miles. I just took it in for my state inspection and it had a bad tie rod end at 33000 miles. And guess what? Dodge refuses to pay for the tie rod end under warranty. My wife drives this vehicle and she is not an aggressive driver at all. I've maintained it properly and done everything I can to keep it running smoothly. I do like the removable seating on the interior. Lots of room, but not the most comfortable vehicle I've driven. This was not cheap either. Thumbs down!
Favorite Features
Removable seating. Room for 7. Decent power (when it runs).
Suggested Improvements
Lighting on all the switches. More comfortable seating. A helpful support team at Dodge. Gas mileage. More adjustability with the drivers seat. It feels like I'm sitting way to high all the time. Quality! The quality of this vehicle is terrible.
