Good truck. It's been dependable as can be for it being almost 17 years old. But, compared to other vehicles of different brands, the metal used for the body was very poor, the bed panel rusted out and now theres a gaping hole, the bottom of the doors have rusted, as has the left door jams. I love the truck, but I still think chevy could have done better even with the new S10's, I mean, come on, it has only .3 liters less than Fords 4.6 V8, and yet only around 200 horses? I love my truck, enough said..

Favorite Features

Tourqe surprises even the most seasoned and overly confident drivers of newer Nissans, Dodges, Fords, and a few others.

Suggested Improvements

Body sheet metal could have been better quality. Fuel economy matches that of larger pick-ups. More horses for keeping up with traffic at highway speeds. Interior could have used better materials.

Review

I've dusted almost every Chevy, Dodge, and Ford full size pickup you can imagine in this truck, and I've taken this thing through places most trucks would shiver to even think about going through, and it held up. The truck was stolen and beat to death but it still ran for about a month after we got it back. Great truck for anyone that wants a great running truck with good power, good hauling, great offroading, and dependability offerings. If it werent for it being a Chevy i probably would tell anyone looking for a nice truck to get one of these. The seats for a short cab are a little awkward though for someone averaging a height taller then 5'8 or so

Favorite Features

Big V6, meaty tires, great transfercase gearing, reliability, workability, and easy to find parts for

Suggested Improvements

More cab space would be nice, and maybe a stiffer suspension for offroad enthusists such as myself

Review

so far this has been a great truck.only had to replace one thing and that was the fan belt.truck was specially order when new has all the options on it including a digital instrument panal and the optional 4.3l v-6 and 4 speed automatic. truck has all the power i will need in fact it has quicker 0- 60mph runs than the newest s10 pickups. my truck can hit 0-60 in 9.5 seconds versus 9.7 for a s10 vortec 4.3 kinda wierd huh.and it can also make quick work of a 4.6 expedition and a 92 ford explorer 4.0 trust me ive raced.

Favorite Features

toquey and ferocius 4.3. lusty growl when you hit the gas. smooth shifting transmission. can chirp the tires in 2nd gear and its an automatic. eats 4 cylinder trucks for pleasure on straights.

Suggested Improvements

the 3.08.1 rear gears do not suit this trucks engine. ride gets bouncy and rough on pothole covered roads. leans a little in cornering.

Review

252,000 and counting. It's never left me stranded. The bed holds a 4wheeler with room to spare. Couldn't even get the gate closed on my old tacoma. MPG's are down to 21 and power is down also compared to when I got it at 200k. But as long as it runs I will drive it.

Favorite Features

Fun to drive, bed holds alot, map lights under the rearview, good mpgs, good acceleration, reliable, takes alot of abuse, chicks dig it

Suggested Improvements

Body rust, blows quite a few bulbs, needs a locking diff for help with traction
