Impala-My impressions

I just drove a rental 2008 white Chevy Impala LT with about 4300 miles on it for two weeks in New England on vacation. Put about 700 miles on it. Having not driven this generation of Impala before, I was curious about what GM's latest version was. For the record, I drive a 2000 Ford Taurus SES with the DOHC 3.0 V-6, with 75K miles on it. I have not read any of the 6700+ posts ... Read More...

Re: 2007 IMPALA SS HANDLING PROBLEM [ryster]

> I'm taking it in on Monday for Chevy to take a look. I was getting the impression from you that I HEAL and TOE my way to work. I don't but I do like V8's. Since I haven't driven a 6cyln, I don't know how it feels. Frontal traction is good in the snow but as it's pulling at safe speeds, the backend moves around when the road is not that bad as far as snow coverage. Ever seen a ... Read More...

Re: 2007 IMPALA SS HANDLING PROBLEM [zedo6]

You make it sound as though Stabilitrak was added to address an alleged handling problem with the Impala. It is not just the SS models, or only the Impala, that received standard Stabilitrak for 2008. GM has added it as standard equipment on many of the 2008 models. If the handling of the car was truly that dangerous in the snow, Chevrolet would either be voluntarily ... Read More...

2008 Impala - Flip & Fold Flat Backseat Option

Can you fold down part of the back seat or only all of the back seat? The Chevy video shows that you can flip up part or all of the seat and then shows folding down the whole back to have the back seat completely flat. I want to know if you can fold down only one of the backs so that someone can still sit in the back seat but have more room for storage with one of the seats folded ... Read More...

Sr. Citizen Questions On Possible New Impala

Re: Sr. Citizen Questions On Possible New Impala [bobr14]

"Hello all, Sr. Citizen now (sure does sneak up on you) and need a new car. Presently driving a '97 Buick LeSabre which have really liked. Lots of little problems over the years, but nothing major. Time for something new, though. Prefer a "larger" car. My number one priority, by far, is reliability. It is hard for me anymore to spend the better part of the day in a service ... Read More...

Re: 2-Way Advanced Remote Start [thatism]

"The Impala brochure mentions the "2-Way Advanced Remote Start" as being a dealer installed option with "late availability". I've contacted GM and here is their reply. "The two-way remote start system, or the Advanced Remote Start System (ARSS), is a new technology that has a convenient display screen that shows the vehicle’s current status (locked or remote-start ... Re: 16inch wheels vs 17 inch wheels [sylviae]

As far as the CD Changer is concerned, Chevy offers a CD Changer that is integrated into the head-unit as an option. There is no reason the dealer could not order this part and install it in place of your current head-unit. If it was the dealer that installed the Pioneer in the trunk, they took the cheap way out. With regards to the wheels, the 16" wheels/tires will ... Read More...

Re: Kia Amanti [allmet33]

Top 10 Losers: Non-Luxury Sedans, Wagons and Hatchbacks (Current Models) What I found appears to be the amount of "lot time" a car has, although the site wasn't clear. This is for the month of May, and looks bad for the Ford twins as well as the Kia. 2008 Mercury Grand Marquis: 223 days 2008 Ford Taurus: 120 days 2008 Mercury Sable: 119 days 2008 Kia Amanti: 117 days ...
