I thought wind noise was a very common issue, since the 2006+ Impala board here (that Edmunds has closed to new posts) has several posts mentioning the noise that I immediately noticed on the highway. Selling more cars is important to GM. Prime example: For those that remember Chevy spent a ton of money advertising the 1994 Impala SS when it came out. Had the detuned Corvette engine 17" wheels, RWD. people rushed to the showrooms to see the car. Your right, in 1955 the 265 Cubic Inch V8 was rushed into production. In 1955 Chevrolet only had two models. The Corvette and full sized chevrolet..(at that time the Belair was the top of the line full size chevrolet like the Impala is today) because Ford and Chrysler at that time had V8's as well as other GM division cars, performance was heating up just like it is ... I was looking at the test results of a new Impala SS and saw that it could keep up with or even beat 1994-1996 SS Impala's. This is not a recall, but a TSB and unless under warranty, your cost, but far cheaper than a manifold and more often the problem. I don't think the lack of power was the only issue with this car,its huge, its heavy, and it ain't cheap.. but even with a larger engine and more torque would not compete with current Altimas and Maximas with their 3.5 engine....only a few nostalgic Ford lovers showed true interest in the car....Same with the current retro T Bird...sales are way below expectations ...
