CTS 3.6DI Impressions - Part 1
Introduction (some not altogether unrelated factoids) One of our friends sells BMWs yet he drives an Audi. He tells us that his dealership sells 40%+ AWD BMWs, because they cant get any more than that. Another friend, our salesperson since the 80s sells Audis and drives one. Our Audi dealer is owned by a Cadillac dealer and our Cadillac salesperson has ... Read More...
My 2008 CTS Test drive (long..part 1)
Well, my dealership finally got product in the last several days and it was time to bring my SRX in for service anyway. I was very interested in this car...many of you regulars remember me owning a 2003 CTS LuxSport before trading it for the 2005 SRX when my wife and I had kids. Well a third kid is on the way which means the SRX's days are numbered (it just wasn't designed ... Read More...
Probably doesn't matter, but. . .
. . .you can't order a "tarted up" (sport wise) CTS with AWD and a manual transmission. I, begrudgingly, admit that at 27 months, with an automatic (a delightful 6speed Audi A6, MY 2005), I actually believe a "real driver" can actually derive both performance and satisfaction from an automatic equipped car. But, it has taken 27 Audis almost all with stick shifts ... Read More...
08 CTS fully loaded is over $50K
You guys misunderstood me, Im not a Cadillac basher, and I already earned $3,500 credit in my GM MasterCard toward the purchase of a new GM car. If I wasnt interested in buying the 08 CTS I wouldnt take the time to calculate how much would cost. Matter of fact I was about to buy 2006 CTS, then I found out that Cadillac was redesigning it. I thought the new model will ... Read More...
Re: Ray - CTS/STS [pucks]
I tend to find your prediction tracks with mine. The CTS, regardless of what is done to move the cars out the door, will be in the upper $40's -- Cadillac wants to be the Premium entry level LPS and remain head held high within the LPS class. One way to do this, of course, is to raise the price. The fact, hopefully, that a $47K CTS may be had for a low lease price is just the ... Read More...
Price continued
I agree that most folks do NOT buy a fully loaded model of their object of desire. My point is that base price is virtually useless in determining the typical price. The apples to apples comparison pretty much eliminates the content for $ discussion and allows us to make a level playing field eval. If the fully loaded CTS compares "favorably" to the fully loaded ... Read More...
Cadillac CTS: Quality that lasts?
CTS Quality, Not that good for a Cadillac...???.
What motor is in the CTS your buying? The CTS cars are hard on tires. One minute behind the wheel of the 3.6L and you will see what I mean. They are a fun car to drive. One minute behind the wheel of the CTS-V and your ready to join a NASCAR team. I love my CTS, however I have the 2005 CTS 3.6L V6 with 30500 miles. At 26K I had an engine noise (a rattle just after starting for about ... Read More...
Re: 2008 CTS - Optionless Vehicle again????
I have a 2005 CTS 3.6L with the Luxury Opt which dont give you much for the cost of the vehicle. Unless GM adds some options as standard equipment I will not be upgrading to the 2008 model. MY 2002 Chevy Trail Blazer had more options than they put in the CTS. i.e. Heated seats. CTS have High/low. Wow! GM really went over board there. The Trail Blazer had High/Low but ... Read More...
Re: 2008 CTS. I would worry more about the 3.6L
It looks sharp but I would be more concerned about the 3.6L engine than what the car looks like. I have a 2005 CTS 3.6L with 30500 miles. At 26K I had an engine noise (a rattle just after starting for about 2-3 seconds) that started just after a LOF. I was told it was a bad starter (which I thought was weird at the time) but the dealer replaced it under warranty. The noise ... Read More...
Re: 2005 CTS 3.6 Engine burning/using oil.
There is no excuse for ignorance for going two years without an oil change but to his defense there may be more to it with this vehicle/engine. I have the same engine in my 2005 CTS with 30500 miles. At 26K I had an engine noise (a rattle just after starting for about 2-3 seconds) that started just after a LOF. I was told it was a bad starter (which I thought was weird at ... Read More...
