Cadillac CTS: Quality that lasts?

Re: CTS Quality, Not that good for a Cadillac...???. [dbieganski]

I signed up for this site just to reply to this thread. I also have a CTS (2004) with a 3.6l motor. I experience the exact same symptoms as the original poster. I started the car one day and it made a strange noise, went to check the oil and it wasn't on the stick. I put 2 quarts in and took it to the dealer. The dealer says they cannot find an oil leak. It also uses coolant, ... Read More...

Cadillac CTS Engine Issues

Engine problems with my 2004 CTS

My car has been in the shop since 10-31-07. It took Cadillac 2 months to have an engineer come out and check it out, after the mechanic replaced all sorts of things in the engine with nothing helping. It was idiling really weird and you could see it in the rpm gauge, they had no clue what the problem was, so this engineer had them do a cylinder leak down test, well.... ... Read More...

Re: Driving a '08 CTS from Avis [sevenfeet0]

Thanks for the heads-up. I'm a current BMW owner, with the CTS on my short list. I've been looking at the car for months, and one thing I took note of, was a sales manager at my local Caddy dealership, during his pitch to me early last fall, strongly assured me that Cadillac would NOT be placing the new CTS in rental fleets of any kind. He said Cadillac wanted to take the ... Read More...

GM oil standardGM4718M

Why must the 2004 Cadillac cts use only synthetic oil as mandated by GM4718M? I have an oil consumption issue 1 qt now every 5-6000 miles. I can’t find an answer to this question. Thanks in advance Read More...

Cadillac CTS Steering Issues

cadillac steering issues

I have had my CTS since 2004, the first year it had a shimmy at 55mph plus. The problem was NOT my tires. The dealer recommended a front AND a rear end alignment which I had done. It has driven like a dream ever since. Read More...

Article Comments - Comparison Test: 2007-2008 Sport Sedans

Re: CTS weight problems [lonestar2]

Looking to go from a compact to mid-size sedan. Also looking at 5 series & E Class. I am not sure what dimension you consider important in the decision to go from a compact to mid size sedan, but the fact that the CTS is an inch narrower in rear seat/shoulder width than a BMW 3-series and 3 inches narrower than a 5 series would certainly be a deal killer for me, no matter ... A Few Observations...

1. None of the cars in this test are bad cars. Each one has different strengths and weaknesses. It is up to the buyer to determine which one best meets his/her needs. 2. BMW has essentially defined this market segment since 1966. It has done so by building cars that combine comfort, practicality, and performance in a way that few automakers have been able to emulate. ... Read More...

Cadillac CTS Maintenance and Repair

oil life monitor

Took my 2004 Cadillac cts to the dealer today. To make a long story short.. The Cadillac dealer service department told me today. The oil life monitor is a bad tool to use when deciding oil changing intervals. I had my oil changed 5000 miles ago. Oil life monitor indicated oil life 69%. I figured I could go at lest another 3500 miles before the next oil change. Not according ... Read More...

Re: Guess I dont get the blue tooth hangup [pao]

The current, A4, has a wheelbase that is 6.6" longer than the one right now for sale in the US. The situation that I am facing is coming off the lease of a 2005 A6 that has all the options offered in that MY. Prior to that I had a 2003 Audi allroad also fully optioned. When I equip a CTS with all the options it offers what was apparently sold to anyone who wanted one (from Germany ... Read More...
