As a side note on the "M" edition X5, you are right that it has the same engine as the 4.8i (350hp in the U.S.). As in the previous X5, BMW eventually will offer 3 engine choices. In the previous model, you could buy the X5 3.0 (260 hp inline 6), 4.4i (315 hp V8) and the 4.8is (355 hp V8). As I noted in my previous post (chrisjur, "BMW X5 Prices Paid and Buying Experience" #779, 23 Dec 2007 8:39 am), I recently spec'd out a 2008 X5 3.0si with an MSRP of $59,020 and paid $56,725. Just bought my wife a 2008 MDX Tech/Ent and we love it. I have owned BMW's over the past 12 years including my current 2003 M3 convertible BLK/RED interior and I truly think that the MDX drives like a European car/suv. Dude - I just picked up my 2008 X5. iDrive is one of the MAIN REASONS I purchased this car. I looked at Suburbans and Hummers (H1, H2, H3), I own a Land Rover, I looked at Nissan Armada and at the Mercedes GL and ML. After the iDrive - the other systems were a joke. The Audi was the WORST.
