Apparently his 2004 BMW X5 uses disposable rotors. The total costs that were attributable to the brakes were over $800, he now informs me and the remaining charge was for an oil and filter change -- but the out of pocket at 54K miles was $900, he says. The amount for the brakes "exceeded" $800 -- he says he thinks the brake portion of the bill was "about $830 or $840." ... Read More...

My friend has an X5 -- and loves it -- trouble free, thus far. At 54K miles it needed new FRONT brakes -- $900, standard, normal, routine expense. $900 for front brakes on an X5? That's ridiculous. Your friend gor hosed. Big time. I hope the Service Advisor kissed him and sent flowers the next day. My wife's E39 got new rotors, pads and parking brake shoes just before ... Read More...

I've got a 2004 X5 with 4.4. This also happens to me from time to time. First time it happened I thought somebody hit me from behind. If you search the internet you will find that this is a known problem among X5 owners, seems to be more common with 4.4. No known fix. BMWX5 Vibration going up hill 2000rpm 45mph

Recently I took my 2004 x5 to Otto's BMW in West Chester PA for vibration on floor/gas peddle which occurs every time I go up a hill at 40-45 mph 2000rpm- more of a fluttering like the car is underpowered. Month 13, the Gloss Black with Terracotta interior 2005 BMW X3 (with nearly every option box checked) has now, just today, passed 20,000 miles. Been to the dealer for one oil change and twice (separate visits) for new windshield wiper blades. Probably by late this year, we'll put a new set of tires on the 18" sport wheels that came with the car. Love the car so much, ... Read More...

No. I have not misunderstood. I used to be a motorhead myself prior to my present incarnation. I've owned >100 cars myself in my 39 years, including several other German makes (although this and the other X5 (a 2004 4.4 w/ 20k which I consider to be my daily driver) are only the 4th and 5th BMWs that I've owned (had a couple of 3 series in the 80's as well as a 3.0csi before ... dear Pantaleone First they "massaged" the seals as a tempraray measure then they removed the seales and re set them, thts wahat they told me. Originlly I thought that they had replaced the seals. The BMW delers seesm to be tight lipped as to how they fixed it. Its been ok since (hope it stays tht way). With your wind noise I cant see how that can be, unless they installed ... Read More...

This happened to me recently. My "baby" wouldn't start, the lights lit up, the radio plays but the engine would not turn. My first instinct was the battery. I jumpstarted, no go. So I had to tow the car to BMW. 5 mns latter they told me it was just the key not functioning properly!... :blush: So next time your car won't start, don't overlook the key and always have a spare ... Hello I have an 05 X5 with the same problem with the sunroof (leaked then they put in extra moulding now there is wind noise around 75 mph) what did they do to fix your leak? Thank you Read More...
